Position Title: Adjunct, Political Science Time Type: Part time Position Summary and Qualifications: Saint Joseph’s University’s Department of Political Science has an ongoing need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to staff a variety of courses each semester. We are looking for the support of highly qualified, capable, and experienced adjunct instructors. With a commitment to personalized attention through a low faculty to student ratio, SJU may call on the expertise of adjunct instructors to complement the work of full-time faculty across all of its colleges and schools. SJU appoints part-time, non-tenure track adjunct instructors on a semester-to-semester basis with no guarantee of consecutive appointments. Re-appointment is based on university need, student enrollment, and satisfactory performance. Applicants for these positions are screened on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Teaching responsibilities are assigned by the department chair. Compensation for adjunct instructors is commensurate with educational credentials, professional, experience and instructional background. Adjunct instructors are bound to the terms and conditions of employment at Saint Joseph’s University, including but not limited to the Faculty Handbook. Saint Joseph’s University’s Department of Political Science has an ongoing need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to staff a variety of courses each semester. We are looking for the support of highly qualified, capable, and experienced adjunct instructors. Presently, we have a specific need for faculty to teach within the field of American Politics, International Relations/Global Politics, Comparative Politics, and Political Theory. Part-time adjunct faculty may teach 1 or 2 courses per semester on an as-needed basis. Courses available for adjunct staffing are typically offered during the daytime and may include: 1. Introduction to American Politics 2. Introduction to Comparative Politics 3. Introduction to Global Politics 4 Introduction to Political Theory 5. Special topics courses in the above areas. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and guidance to students
  • Instruct an assigned course providing syllabi and other instructional materials
  • Use of university learning management systems to deliver instruction
  • Grade reporting and assessment
  • In addition to meeting all scheduled class session, adjunct faculty are expected to offer two hours of office hours each week.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s Degree in Political Science, International Relations, or a closely related field. Previous teaching/training experience. Preferred Qualifications: ABD or PhD in Political Science, International Relations, or closely related field. Willingness to be flexible in class scheduling. Physical &Other Requirements
