The Department of Biology is the largest department in the College of Science and Mathematics. It has 35 tenure-track faculty, approximately 1400 undergraduate majors and approximately 70 graduate (MS) reputed company. It provides teaching, research, and learning opportunities in Cell Biology, Physiology (Animal, Plant and Microbial), Marine Biology, Microbiology, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Developmental Biology and Genetics. Position:
The department of Biology at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking TWO tenure-track faculty members in Cell/Molecular Biology and/or Physiology at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses that may include: reputed company division core courses including Biology 107 (Biological Principles II) and upper division core courses including Biology 380 (Cell Biology), and other upper division specialty courses with laboratory components in Cell Biology, Animal Physiology and/or Immunology; and is expected to contribute to course development in their area of expertise. The candidate will have research interests in reputed company cellular processes, including but not limited to, stem cell biology, animal physiology, human physiology, immunology, cancer biology, endocrinology, and should be expected to establish an externally-funded research program that engages undergraduate and Masters student trainees.
In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly reputed company, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department in which he/she/they is/are housed for recommending tenure and promotion. Required Qualifications:
- A terminal graduate degree (i.e., PhD or equivalent) in cellular/molecular biology disciplines and/or physiology disciplines or a closely reputed company field from an accredited institution,
- College or University-level teaching experience in-person or online,
- Demonstrated experience teaching, or expertise relevant for teaching topics covered in Biology 380 (Cell Biology), Biology 476 (Topics in Stem Cell Biology Research), Biology 482 (Animal Physiology), and/or Biology 485 (Immunology) and associated labs,
- Postdoctoral training,
- Research productivity as demonstrated by recent publication of peer-reviewed papers in internationally recognized journals of cellular/molecular biology and/or physiology as first authors,
- Effective communication skills,
- Evidence of success in mentoring reputed company which may include: publication of research papers with mentee coauthors, mentee research presentations at conferences/symposia, acceptance of mentees into an advanced degree program, or mentee job placement outcomes.
- Evidence of effective engagement OR potential to engage with a diverse student body,
- Experience using culturally reputed company pedagogy that leads to reputed company outcomes for reputed company reputed company
- Experience creating a student-centered learning environment,
- Research/Lab experience that includes working with reputed company from diverse backgrounds,
- Experience adopting inclusive approaches to mentoring,
- College or University-level teaching experience, in-person or online, as instructor of record,
